🎉 The Role
Your Core Responsibilities
- Contribute to novel computer vision and machine learning algorithms development that meet real-world performance and safety enhancements for the users of the system
- Contribute to organizing large quantities of surgical vision data for algorithm development purposes
- Apply state-of-the-art knowledge in areas of computer vision and machine learning to surgical vision domain
- Develop, deploy, and maintain reproducible ML pipelines, ensuring robust experiment tracking, model versioning, and scalable deployment workflows (MLOps)
- Work closely with cross-functional teams (Software and Clinical) to ensure the engineering integrity and clinical relevance of the project.
- Conduct technical presentations of the project in a cross-functional team environment
How You’ll Fit In
- You will be an integral part of the Moon Surgical team as we develop new features for the next-generation of the Maestro platform. It is very likely that one, or more, of the features that you work on will be used by surgeons to perform a critical procedure on their patients. You will be mentored by our experienced ML engineer as you obtain hands-on experience within a growing medical device start-up.
🧠Qualifications, Skills & Attributes
- Currently enrolled in a Master’s or PhD program in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or a related field, in the final or penultimate year.
- Strong proficiency in Python
- Hands-on experience with PyTorch and a solid understanding of model training pipelines.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS), experiment tracking, and reproducibility best practices.
- Experience or strong interest in MLOps tools (such as MLflow), CI/CD pipelines, and artifact management.
- Highly rigorous, structured, and automation-oriented, with the ability to synthesize, document, and formalize technical decisions.
- Curious, self-driven, and collaborative within an R&D environment.
