🎉 The Role
Your Core Responsibilities
- Contribute to the development of novel Vision–Language–Action (VLA) and foundation models for the Maestro system, delivering real-world performance and safety improvements
- Contribute to the enhancement and evolution of existing AI features developed for the Maestro system
- Curate and manage large-scale, multi-modal datasets generated by the Maestro system
- Maintain state-of-the-art expertise in machine learning, computer vision, and robotics
- Work closely with cross-functional teams (Systems, Software, Clinical and Product) to ensure interfaces and requirements are properly defined
- Provide hands-on analytical troubleshooting during prototyping and through commercial launch in support of rapid design cycles and feedback loops
- Generate invention disclosures and patents in support of the company’s technology portfolio
- Provide support with external vendors and collaborators as necessary
Your Day-to-day Activities
You will be fully immersed in the design and development of the Maestro Platform. You will be a key technical contributor to our platform and be a critical resource to transform the next-gen intelligent features from concept to reality.
How You’ll Fit In
- You will be reporting to Director of Computer Vision and Machine Learning who will provide guidance and management on your short-, mid- and long-term projects within the organization through weekly 1-1 meetings
- You will be in contact with all the team members globally, on an as-needed basis, with frequent interaction with management and technical resources
- You will be working with input and support from our cross-functional teams
🧠Qualifications, Skills & Attributes
- PhD degree in computer science, electric engineering, robotics or relevant fields, or Master’s with 4+ years of industrial experience in computer vision, machine learning and robotics
- Hands-on experience with machine learning approaches on robotics systems
- Familiarity with foundation models and Vision–Language–Action (VLA) approaches for robotics
- Practical experience with PyTorch and MLOps platforms
- Programming proficiency in both Python and C++
- Experience developing machine learning algorithms for multi-modal datasets, including data preparation, prototyping, implementation, evaluation, and iterative improvement
- Experience with TensorRT for software deployment is a plus
- Prior experience developing machine learning systems in FDA-regulated environments is a plus
- Work on-site at our San Carlos, California office
